Job description

Civil Contractor is seeking an intermediate – senior Land Surveyor to join their surveying teams in Vancouver and Toronto. Salary range is $90,000 – $140,000. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with our client on this full-time permanent role.

Responsibilities of Surveyor:
  • Analyze survey data to determine the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land features.
  • Prepare detailed reports, maps, plots, and legal descriptions of surveyed areas.
  • Utilize software such as AutoCAD, GIS, and other relevant tools to process and present data
  • Conduct land and property surveys, including topographic, boundary, and construction layout surveys.
  • Operate and maintain surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and laser scanners.
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted on-site.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage surveying projects from inception to completion.
  • Allocate resources, assign tasks to team members, and ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Ensure that all surveying work complies with municipality standards & guidelines.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and precision of survey data.
  • Review and approve all survey deliverables before submission to clients or regulatory bodies.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of surveyors.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures during fieldwork.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working on construction sites.
Requirements of Surveyor:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or Civil Engineering Technician or a related field.
  • Experience with Leica equipment is an asset.
  • Experience using iCON field software is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in surveying software (e.g., Civil3D) and equipment (e.g., total stations, GPS).
  • Strong understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and legal requirements in Ontario
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills and the ability to perform complex calculations.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
