Job summary

Job Description

We have an opportunity available for a Labourer (Janitor) on the day shift. Duties for this position will include, but not be limited to, the following :

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum floors and use floor cleaning equipment in the shop including welding area and walkways to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Remove metal dust and debris generated from welding and preparation areas.
  • Empty general and scrap metal waste bin and dispose of waste in accordance with company policies.
  • Clean locker rooms, lunch room including appliances and counters.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and replenishing supplies
  • Quickly respond to and clean up non hazardous spills (e.g. water, oil and other leaks, if any.)
  • Maintain cleanliness of entrances, exits and outdoor areas near the shop including yard and parking lot.
  • Follow cleaning schedules and checklists for daily, weekly and monthly tasks.
  • Report any safety hazards, damage or required repairs to supervisors
  • Handle cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Ensure proper storage and restock inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment
  • Practice good housekeeping, including 5S requirements, and time management in the performance of daily duties
  • Comply with all legislated and Company’ Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality and Lean policies, procedures and programs
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Additional Information
Work environment

Working safely is a condition of employment at Canam. The role involves working in plant environment and constant exposure to moving parts. Safety PPE (personal protective equipment) must be worn while onsite (steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses, etc.).
