Job summary

Vancouver Pile Driving Ltd. in Prince Rupert, BC, is seeking a Labour Relations Coordinator for a 12-month fly-in/fly-out assignment on a major AltaGas project. You will manage collective agreements, coordinate staffing, and foster constructive labour relations.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in labour relations, employee relations, workforce coordination, or a related role.
  • Experience in construction, industrial, heavy civil, energy, LNG, or project-based environments preferred.
  • Experience in a unionized environment and interpreting collective agreements.
  • Strong understanding of labour relations principles and employment legislation.
  • Experience coordinating large project workforces is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and workforce reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support the administration and interpretation of collective agreements and labour-related policies.
  • Act as a liaison between project management and union representatives.
  • Assist with the resolution of labour relations issues and workplace concerns.
  • Monitor compliance with collective agreements, labour legislation, and company policies.
  • Support labour-management meetings and prepare meeting minutes, action items, and related documentation.
  • Track and maintain records related to grievances, workforce movements, and labour relations matters.
  • Assist project leadership in responding to labour-related inquiries and issues.
  • Coordinate workforce requests and union dispatch requirements.
  • Support project staffing plans and workforce forecasting activities.
  • Monitor workforce availability and assist with labour allocation planning.
  • Coordinate onboarding requirements for union and project personnel.
  • Assist in managing project manpower reporting and workforce metrics.
  • Foster positive working relationships between employees, unions, subcontractors, and project leadership.
  • Support investigations, fact-finding exercises, and workplace issue resolution.
  • Promote respectful workplace practices and effective communication across the project.
  • Assist in implementing employee engagement and workforce communication initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate labour relations records and documentation.
  • Prepare labour reports, workforce summaries, and project updates as required.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, project agreements, and company procedures.
  • Support audits, reviews, and workforce compliance initiatives.

Vancouver Pile Driving Ltd. (VanPile), a proud member of the Carlson Construction Group, is seeking an experienced and motivated Labour Relations Coordinator to join our team in support of a major AltaGas Project in Prince Rupert, BC.

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Labour Relations Coordinator will play a critical role in fostering positive labour-management relationships, supporting workforce planning, ensuring compliance with collective agreements, and promoting effective communication between project leadership, employees, unions, and subcontractors.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-profile industrial construction project while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

The Opportunity

As a Labour Relations Coordinator, you will serve as a key liaison between project management, employees, union representatives, and subcontractors. You will support the effective administration of labour relations activities while helping the project maintain a productive, respectful, and compliant work environment.

The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, an excellent relationship builder, and a trusted resource for workforce-related matters.

Key Responsibilities
Labour Relations & Workforce Support
  • Support the administration and interpretation of collective agreements and labour-related policies.
  • Act as a liaison between project management and union representatives.
  • Assist with the resolution of labour relations issues and workplace concerns.
  • Monitor compliance with collective agreements, labour legislation, and company policies.
