A leading health services organization in Alberta is seeking a Laboratory Technologist I to deliver public health and specialized microbiology services. You will be responsible for various laboratory functions, including testing and analysis of diagnostic samples. The ideal candidate will have completed an accredited MLT program and be registered or eligible for practice in Alberta. This role requires a commitment to quality control and adherence to safety protocols.
You will help your team deliver public health and specialized microbiology for Alberta through leadership and excellence in surveillance, research, specialized laboratory testing and outbreak and emerging infectious diseases response. As a Laboratory Technologist I (MLT I) you will perform a variety of laboratory functions which includes: recognizes bacterial pathogens and follows established protocols for identification, operating and maintaining technical equipment while adhering to protocols and safety guidelines; entering and validating results into Laboratory Information System, recognizing testing/reporting discrepancies and takes appropriate action, performing quality control procedures necessary for maintaining effective quality systems management of the area, participating in procedure reviews and train staff. You may have the opportunity to cross train in other areas of the laboratory to expand your experience.
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
As Required.
1-year recent experience in a large Microbiology laboratory.
