Clinical laboratory technician • toronto on

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada
Contract Type: Full-time Permanent
Salary: CA$103,348.00-CA$129,185.00 yearly

Reporting directly to the Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician will be responsible for providing basic technical support, preparation and analysis within the Biopharmaceutical Chemistry Testing Laboratory. This is a deadline-based, high-pressure work environment with on-going projects for a variety of clients.

The Laboratory Technician will have some experience (including academic) in handling wet chemistry or instrumentation analyses and will be able to work independently with minimal supervision. The incumbent must be energetic, exceedingly well-organized, flexible, and must have the ability to interact with customers and staff in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining proactive, resourceful, and efficient. A high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role.

The Laboratory Technician must:

• Be a capable instrument or equipment operator;
• Be familiar with a number of routine and some non-routine wet chemistry methods and procedures;
• Be proficient at data retrieval and interpretation of routine analysis or tests;
• Have basic troubleshooting skills, both with instruments and methods;
• Be able to write lab reports;
• Be able to work under GMP and GLP guidelines, and be familiar with USP and pharmaceutical testing.
• Be able to perform sample management and disposal activities.
• Be able to perform other duties as assigned by Lab Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Documentation: Ensuring accurate reporting in lab books.

Qualifications

Education

• A B.Sc. degree preferably in Chemistry, or diploma in related field;
• A solid background and understanding of Chemistry is mandatory;
• Computer proficiency - Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Experience

• 1-3 years working with wet chemistry techniques;
• Experience working with pharmaceuticals;
• Experience working in a contract laboratory considered an asset.

Working Conditions

This position will be working in a laboratory environment where standing is required for greater than 50% of the time to work at the bench for analyses. Light lifting requirements of no more than 20 lbs.
