Position Summary

Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments. Medical laboratory technicians conduct routine medical laboratory tests and set up, clean, and maintain medical laboratory equipment. Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology. Prepares materials and equipment. Demonstrates techniques.

General Duties
  • Participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments. Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology in fields such as cellular therapy.
  • Prepares and sets up materials and equipment. Performs a variety of assays, analyses, and tests such as tissue culture and histological procedures.
  • Records results, performs calculations, and compiles data. Maintains records and files.
  • Demonstrates the operation of apparatus or techniques.
  • Maintains equipment and performs minor repairs. Arranges for servicing.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the work area.
  • Maintains inventory. Purchases equipment and materials.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the field to update skills and knowledge.
  • Uses a variety of equipment such as balances, pipettors, laminar flow hoods, incubators, microscopes, centrifuges, computers, and audio‑visual equipment.
  • Manipulation of cryofreezers with liquid nitrogen.
  • Accomplishes any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor.
Education / Experience

Education: Diploma of College Studies (DEC)

Work Experience: 1 to 2 years

Required Skills
  • Excellent French and English, spoken and written.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision.
Additional Information

• Status: Temporary, part‑time (21 hours/week)
• Pay Scale: $22.83 – $34.26 (commensurate with education and experience)
• Work Shift: Variable between Monday and Friday
• Work Site: GLEN Site, 1001 boul. Decarie
