Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the Medical laboratory technician participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments. They conduct routine medical laboratory tests, set up, clean and maintain medical laboratory equipment, perform a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology, prepare materials and equipment, demonstrate techniques, record results, perform calculations, compile data, maintain records, demonstrate operation of apparatus or techniques, maintain equipment and perform minor repairs, arrange for servicing, ensure the cleanliness and safety of the work area, maintain inventory, purchase equipment and materials, keep abreast of new developments, and manipulate cryo freezers with liquid nitrogen. They also accomplish any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor.
