Laboratory Technician I Job, Cobourg, ON

Arclin, Inc. is currently looking for Laboratory Technician I for our Cobourg, ON. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role is responsible for supporting a business application area of Decorative Surfaces Overlay (DSO) group. The role performs laboratory analyses and testing, ensures good quality of incoming raw materials and finished goods, as well as testing of new or modified company products and technologies. This role is also responsible for maintaining the laboratory in a safe, clean and well-ordered manner according to Arclin policies and procedures and applicable HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) rules and regulations.

Laboratory Technician I Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs work in compliance with all Arclin policies and procedures including HSE and regulatory requirements. Achieves personal objectives on time, on budget, within agreed quality and quantity parameters.
  • Ensures accurate testing of incoming raw materials, as well as finished goods
  • Follows all Arclin procedures in the management of on hold or out of spec materials
  • Demonstrates initiative and contributes ideas for process improvements where possible to save time, money or other resources.
  • Contributes to project teams utilizing Arclin project management methodologies.
  • Sustains a constructive flow of two-way communication with internal and external customers to complete work assignments. Assertively seeks resolution (with Manager), to customer problems/concerns where solutions are not immediately evident.
  • Collaborates on project teams and shares knowledge with peers and other team members to assist in the productive flow of work.
  • Conduct lab experiments, application testing of new or modified products according to industry standards and utilizing proper statistical tools and established Arclin test procedures.
  • Maintain and operate lab equipment according to Arclin lab policies and procedures. Routinely investigate all lab equipment and arrange for service and repairs as required. Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain clean and safe environment in the lab including disposing of waste and safe handling of flammable and toxic chemicals in compliance with all HSE regulations.
Laboratory Technician I Job Requirements:
  • B Sc degree or college diploma in an equivalent science program
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably industrial lab setting
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and to prepare written reports with emphasis on technical clarity and accuracy

  • Industry Exp preferred.
