Job summary

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is hiring a Laboratory Technician in Ontario. You will perform applied laboratory operations, design, test, install and operate equipment, conduct experiments, analyze data and prepare reports, and handle client samples with care.

Requirements include a three-year science diploma, 1–3 years’ lab experience, strong reading, writing and English communication skills, proficiency in Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook, and excellent

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education (three-year diploma) in a science-related program is required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a laboratory setting is required.
  • Proficient in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management; ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Use an applied approach in performing moderate technological functions within laboratory or pilot plant operations.
  • Design, develop, test, install and operate equipment and systems.
  • Conduct applied research and experimental testing.
  • Compile and analyze data and prepare reports.
  • Receive, inspect, sort and label client samples.
  • Sort, crush, pulverize, split, and screen samples.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment or components.
  • Calibrate and set up equipment prior to analysis.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
