EMSL Canada is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Chemistry/Lead) in Mississauga, ON. No prior laboratory experience is required; on-the-job training will be provided.

Essential duties include TCLP sample prep, pH testing, sample extraction and lead analysis preparation, maintaining records, and safe handling of reagents. Opportunity to cross-train and grow within a QC-focused lab.

Qualifications

  • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Willingness to work OT and some weekends.

Responsibilities

  • TCLP sample preparation including size reduction with cutting tools.
  • Perform pH tests, sample extraction and filtration.
  • Prepare samples for lead (Pb) analysis on paints, soils, wipes and air cassettes.
  • Maintain reagents, standards and documentation with accuracy.
  • Assist with sample organization and disposal; keep lab equipment clean.

Laboratory Technician (Chemistry/Lead)# Laboratory Technician (Chemistry/Lead)Mississauga, ON L4T 1G3## OverviewSalary Range$20.00 - $20.00 HourlyPosition TypeFull Time## DescriptionEMSL Canada is seeking a **Laboratory Technician (Chemistry/Lead)** in **Mississauga, ON****.**No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. **Essential Duties & Responsibilities:** TCLP sample preparation: particle size reduction using various cutting tools such as band saw, mitre saw, chisels, hammer, heavy duty scissors, Wiss snip, Dremel tools. Should be able to perform pH test, sample extraction and filtration. Sample preparation: weighing and acid digestion for Lead (Pb) analysis on various media such as paint, soil, wipes and air cassettes. Should be able to perform basic chemistry tasks such as pipetting, use of analytical balances, performing volumetric measurements, preparation of reagents and standards while maintaining documentation and record keeping. Must be able to handle with care laboratory grade acids, solvents and other reagents. Safety training will be provided Assist with sample organization and sample disposal Cleaning and maintenance of laboratory glassware and equipment Must follow all quality control procedures established for the laboratory and test methods. Cross-training in other areas of analysis may be required to meet business demands.## Qualifications**Requirements:** Environmental Science and/or Chemistry background 1 year experience working in a lab setting preferred but not required Authorization to work in Canada indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship Must be able to work independently and with a team Must be able to take instructions and follow standard operating procedures as written and exhibit fundamental time management skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize work assignments Must be concise, organized and meticulous regarding work assignments and documentation Candidate must be able to distinguish between colors in order to perform analysis Must have excellent communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills. Must be willing and able to work OT and some weekends**Available Shift**: Position is full-time, Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Mississauga, ON are encouraged to apply.
