Job summary

A leading freelance services provider in Northwestern Ontario is seeking a Laboratory Technician A to work independently on lab activities. The ideal candidate has a Science degree and 2+ years laboratory experience, with responsibilities including instrument maintenance and data validation. This position offers a rotational schedule of four days on, four days off, with potential night shifts.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of laboratory experience required.
  • Able to operate, troubleshoot and maintain analytical instruments.
  • Knowledge of full laboratory processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample, reagent and calibration preparation as directed.
  • Calibrate, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and conduct routine maintenance on assigned laboratory instruments.
  • Compile, verify and validate accurate data records.
  • Meet quality assurance and turnaround specifications.
  • Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Report results.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician A to join our team working out of our Thunder Bay location. The successful candidate will be able to work independently on laboratory activities with the responsibility for maintaining instruments and equipment used in the lab. It is expected that this position is able to work independently, with direction from the Laboratory Manager.

The schedule for this position is a four day on, four day off rotational schedule with the possibility of night shift availability required.

What you will be doing :

What you bring to the table :
  • Degree or diploma in Science or equivalent experience required.

  • Able to operate, troubleshoot and maintain analytical instruments.
  • Knowledge of full laboratory processes.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a positive manner in a fast paced environment.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
