Job summary

A healthcare organization in Lacombe is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to provide high-quality service in clinical laboratory operations. Overview

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Qualifications
  • Required: Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Additional Required Qualifications: As Required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program including a microscopic urinalysis component. Equivalencies may be considered. Cardiology training and experience including ECGs and Holter Monitors. All blood collection procedures including venipuncture, micro-punctures, blood culture collection as well as collections on all patient ages including newborns, pediatrics and geriatrics. Recent experience performing macroscopic and microscopic urinalysis testing.
