Job summary

A leading university in Alberta seeks a part-time Lab Assistant to support greenhouse maintenance and research tasks. The ideal candidate will perform plant care, catalog lab materials, and manage data entry. A High School Diploma and authorization to work in Canada are required. This position offers $20.00 per hour with an estimated workload of 15 hours per week.

Hiring Unit:

Department of Plant Science

Position Summary:
  • Incumbent will perform greenhouse maintenance tasks, plant care, and clerk/computer jobs to support research.
  • Catalogues laboratory material and or equipment.
  • Collects and enters data into established inventory databases. Updates manuals/datasheets as required.
  • Distributes and tracks items, such as laboratory shipments. A log to track these items may be required.
  • Maintains lab work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Opens and secures the area daily.
  • The list of functions outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an incumbent. For example, incumbents may be asked to perform some elements of Lab Helper level “A” tasks in addition to the above listed functions.

  • Current McGill student

Knowledge of English:
