Intrepid Labs in Toronto is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our engineering team and help build, test, and support automated laboratory workflows that power our platform. This hands-on role focuses on hardware integration with software, robotics, and analytics in a fast-paced biotech environment.

We welcome engineers with 2–5 years of automation experience who enjoy practical work with hardware, on-call coverage, and contributing to client projects. On-site role in our lab.

Qualifications

• University degree in electrical, mechatronics, robotics, computer, or automation engineering.
• 2+ years hands-on experience integrating hardware with software.
• Proficiency in Python; ability to work with C#.
• Familiarity with device communication: serial, TCP/IP, REST.
• Eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Set up, wire, configure, and commission robotic arms and lab instruments.
• Develop and maintain device drivers and integration code in Python and C#.
• Connect devices to orchestration platform via serial, TCP/IP, REST, and SDKs.
• Program robot motions and build reliable pick-and-place routines.
• Test, log results, diagnose failures, and provide on-call support.
• Write setup guides, wiring diagrams, SOPs, and test reports.
