Job summary

TD is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Crime Risk Specialist to join the Financial Crime Risk Management team in Toronto. You will transform complex data into meaningful insights to strengthen risk oversight, inform executive decisions, and drive improvements across the KYC program.

The role requires strong analytical and technical skills, business acumen, and excellent communication to partner with FCRM, Compliance, Technology, and business lines.

Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, financial crime, risk management, or a related field.
  • Experience within banking or financial services.
  • Experience supporting executive reporting or governance forums.
  • Strong understanding of KYC, AML, Financial Crime Risk Management, or Regulatory Compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain executive dashboards, scorecards, and management reporting for KYC governance committees and senior leadership.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, emerging risks, operational issues, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support the production of recurring and ad hoc reporting with clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with governance requirements.
  • Analyze customer risk drivers, control performance, review completion, and risk outcomes.
  • Identify unusual trends or emerging risks requiring management attention.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Crime Risk Specialist to join our Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) team to support the oversight of the Bank's Know Your Customer (KYC) Program. This role is responsible for transforming complex data into meaningful insights that strengthen risk oversight, inform executive decision-making, and drive continuous improvement across the KYC Program.


The successful candidate will combine strong analytical and technical skills with business acumen and excellent communication abilities. They will partner with stakeholders across FCRM, Compliance, Technology, and the Lines of Business to develop reporting, identify emerging risks, monitor program performance, and support strategic initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Reporting & Analytics


  • Develop and maintain executive dashboards, scorecards, and management reporting for KYC governance committees and senior leadership.

  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, emerging risks, operational issues, and opportunities for process improvement.

  • Support the production of recurring and ad hoc reporting with clear, actionable insights and recommendations.

  • Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with governance requirements.


Risk Oversight


  • Analyze customer risk drivers, control performance, review completion, and risk outcomes.

  • Identify unusual trends or emerging risks requiring management attention.

  • Support investigations into data anomalies and provide evidence-based recommendations.


Strategic Analysis


  • Support analytical work supporting major program initiatives, regulatory remediation, and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Perform deep-dive analyses to understand drivers of operational performance and customer risk.

  • Develop segmentation methodologies to support prioritization and risk-based decision making.


Stakeholder Management


  • Partner with Lines of Business, Compliance, Technology, Data Management, and Operations to understand reporting needs.

  • Present analytical findings to senior management and governance committees.

  • Translate complex analytical results into concise business recommendations.

  • Act as a trusted advisor on KYC data and reporting.


Data Governance & Continuous Improvement


  • Promote strong data quality and governance practices.

  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting and improve analytical processes.

  • Document reporting methodologies, metric definitions, and business logic.

  • Support implementation of new reporting capabilities and enhancements.


Qualifications

Required Experience


  • 5–8+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, financial crime, risk management, or a related field.

  • Experience within banking or financial services.

  • Experience supporting executive reporting or governance forums.

  • Strong understanding of KYC, AML, Financial Crime Risk Management, or Regulatory Compliance.


Technical Skills


  • Advanced SQL/Python skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot, and complex formulas.

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other visualization tools.

  • Experience working with large relational databases.

  • Knowledge of data modelling and reporting best practices.


Analytical Skills


  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear business insights.

  • Experience designing KPIs, KRIs, scorecards, and executive dashboards.

  • Ability to identify trends, root causes, and emerging risks from data.


Communication Skills


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong presentation and storytelling abilities using data.

  • Comfortable interacting with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
