We are seeking an experienced lawyer to join our Knowledge and Practice Innovation team as a key member of our Capital Market and Mergers & Acquisitions (CMMA) practice, focusing on corporate finance and public M&A. The successful candidate will develop and implement initiatives to meet the knowledge and practice innovation needs of our firmwide CMMA group, lead the creation of practice resources, and work closely with the Practice Group to enhance legal service delivery through innovative solutions and best practices.

The candidate will report to the heads of the Practice Group and the firmwide Partner, Knowledge and Practice Innovation.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop strategies, translate objectives into actionable plans, and implement solutions to improve effectiveness and efficiency within the Practice Group.
  • Create and maintain model documents, precedents, checklists, data points, toolkits, and substantive content related to corporate finance and public M&A.
  • Stay informed about industry and regulatory developments, sharing insights with the group and serving as a legal, market, and practical expertise source.
  • Provide practice support and respond to ad hoc inquiries from lawyers with thorough and timely answers.
  • Lead initiatives for developing education and training programs.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance legal services through automation, AI, and digital transformation.
  • Establish processes to track and capture matter information in the firm’s experience management system.
  • Ensure knowledge resources are organized, accessible, and leveraged via the Firm's Knowledge Bank and other platforms.
Required Knowledge and Experience
  • J.D. or equivalent degree.
  • Good standing with the Law Society of Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, or Quebec; based in Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, or Vancouver.
  • Minimum of 5 years of client-facing legal experience as a corporate lawyer, with expertise in capital markets and representing Canadian public companies.
  • Deep knowledge of corporate finance, capital markets, public M&A law, regulations, market practices, and documentation.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Strong legal, analytical, drafting, communication, and organizational skills; rigorous attention to detail. Fluency in English and French is an asset.
  • Interest in technology and problem-solving, with a focus on applying technical solutions to legal processes.
  • Effective project management skills, ability to handle multiple demands, good business judgment, and collaborative work experience across teams.
  • Curiosity and growth mindset, with a focus on evolving legal and knowledge industry practices.
