Kepler Academy Inc. in Edmonton's Cavanagh location is seeking an experienced Kitchen Helper to support the Child Care Chef in daily kitchen operations for up to 150 children. You will clean, prep, and cook meals, ensure safe food handling, and maintain temperature logs in a high-volume, child-focused environment.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of commercial cooking experience, a Food Safety Certificate, and a Vulnerable Sector Police Check. First Aid is an asset.

Formación

• Minimum of 1-year commercial cooking experience in a high-volume kitchen environment.
• Food Safety Certificate required.
• Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check issued within the past 6 months.
• Standard First Aid certificate is considered as an asset.

Responsabilidades

• Ensuring a clean, sanitized environment, including washing, and drying all dishes, utensils, cooking equipment and cutting boards; mopping and sweeping the kitchen areas as required.
• Maintain inventory and record of food, supplies and equipment.
• Label and date open packages in fridge & freezer practicing FIFO.
• Prepare, season, and cook food as directed, meeting allergy and dietary requirements where required.
• Being mindful of proper portion size served to children.
• Following the Canada Food Guide to ensure nutritional needs are met.
• Maintaining kitchen cleaning log.
• Disinfecting practices & products - know correct ppm.
• Know and practice proper hand washing procedures.
• Garbage handling

What do we need from you?

As a Child Care Kitchen Helper, you will be responsiblefor supporting the Child Care Chef with the daily operations of the kitchen. Toclean, stock, maintain the kitchen as well as help with the preparation of mealingredients

You will possess the following:

• Able to work independently in a kitchensetting
• Strong advocate of nutrition
• Demonstrate sound knowledge of properfood handling procedures
• Ability to prepare and cook large volumesfor up to 150 children daily
• Ability to handle food allergies and foodsubstitution
• Ability to wash, peel, cut, and slice ofingredients
• Ability to sweep and mop areas
• Team player, organized, flexible

Required qualifications to work at KeplerAcademy:

• Minimumof 1-year commercial cooking experience in a high-volume kitchen environment
