Job summary

A senior living community in Moose Jaw is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support food preparation and service. This casual (on-call) position requires a minimum Grade 12 education and at least one year of dishwashing and/or serving experience. Candidates must have valid food handling certificates and exhibit strong communication skills. Join us in enhancing the lives of our residents while working in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year experience in Dishwashing and/or Serving.
  • Must have a valid Safe Food Handling Certificate.
  • Must have a valid Serve it Right Certificate.
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for the majority of the shift.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

  • Dishwashing and serving.
  • Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
  • Receiving, checking and storing food and supply deliveries.
  • Monitoring quality and quantity of food supplies.
  • Reporting food, supply, and equipment needs.
  • Assisting with food delivery and set-up for special events.
  • Completing assigned cleaning tasks.

This is aCasual (On-Call)position.

Availability
  • 7:30am-11:30am Monday – Friday
  • 7:00am – 3:30pm Sat. & Sun
  • 10:00am – 6:30pm Mon. – Sun
  • 10:30am – 7:30pm Mon. – Sun.
Typical Day Responsibilities
  • Dishwashing and serving.
  • Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
  • Receiving, checking and storing food and supply deliveries in accordance with food safety standards, Health and Safety standards and prescribed practices.
  • Monitoring quality and quantity of food supplies received and advises the team leader on duty of problems.
  • Reporting food, supply, and equipment needs to the team leader.
  • Assisting with the delivery, set-up and removal of food for special events, buffets and catered functions.
  • Completing assigned cleaning tasks according to instructions and cleaning schedules.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Must-haves
  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Minimum one year experience in Dishwashing and/or Serving.
  • Must have a valid Safe Food Handling Certificate.
  • Must have a valid Serve it Right Certificate.
  • Must possess good public relations and communication skills.Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for the majority of the shift.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
