Job description

Under the direction of the Executive Chef and Sous‑Chefs the Kitchen Assistant is responsible for cleaning duties, dishwashing, and some food production for Longshots and Chips Café kitchen as well as back‑of‑house areas including buffets and catered events as required. This role is responsible to maintain the highest professional food quality and sanitation standards. It is a hands‑on position involving line prep, cleaning, etc. This position participates in training and developing new skills as required. This is a part‑time role required to work evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce highest standards of quality and cleanliness
  • Understand the procedures involved in cleaning and sanitizing dishes and equipment
  • Maintain high levels of customer service by helping co‑workers where needed
  • Effectively communicate with front‑of‑house staff members to ensure smooth operations
  • Help with the completing of daily prep lists and cleaning lists
  • Ensure products are properly stored, dated, labeled, and rotated to minimize waste
  • Organize fridges and shelves
  • Maintain stock of take‑out supplies and assist in bringing food prep from one kitchen to another
  • Cut and portion food on prep list
Knowledge & Skills
  • Understand and demonstrate knowledge of hygiene, safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures
  • Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment
  • Ability to work in a timely, efficient, and punctual manner
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment
  • Ability to seek additional duties during slower parts of the day
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Valid food‑safe certification is ideal
  • At least 19 years of age and legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Completion of Serving It Right certification
  • GPEB registration approval
  • Completion of all BCLC certifications necessary for the position
