Extended Kindergarten Teacher Required

Two Hills Mennonite School requires a part-time (0.5 FTE) temporary kindergarten teacher commencing as soon as possible until June 29, 2027.

The Successful Candidate Will
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Have a caring and nurturing personality and value an inclusive philosophy.
  • Have the ability to manage a classroom independently.
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding the abilities, interests, and needs of children.
  • Have a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Be committed to student-centered learning
  • Understand and correctly use formative/summative assessment
  • Practise effective differentiated learning strategies to ensure learning
  • Be collaborative and committed to building relationships with students, parents, staff

Cross-cultural experience would be an asset as would experience or training in working with English Language Learners. THMS has a population primarily consisting of Old Colony Mennonite students with English as their second language. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with a unique cultural group and willing to work within the expectations of the culture.

In accordance with Board Policy, the successful applicant will be required to provide a current Criminal Record – Vulnerable Sector Check and an Alberta Child Intervention Record Check.

We serve 3640 students (K-12), including Catholic, First Nation, Mennonite, Hutterite and Home Schooling learners. Our 19 definable school sites are staffed by approximately 235 FTE teaching staff and 300 support staff.
