Job summary

The Upper Canada District School Board in Ontario is accepting applications for a Registered Early Childhood Educator. You will work under the Principal and with the classroom teacher to plan, implement and assess learning experiences for students in the kindergarten program.

You will collaborate with the teaching team to support student learning, provide guidance to families, and participate in observation-based assessment.

Qualifications

• University degree in early child development or a 2-year post-secondary diploma in Early Childhood Education.
• Registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
• Minimum of 2-3 years recent experience in related child care required with current working knowledge of child development.

Responsibilities

• Works collaboratively with teaching staff to achieve goals.
• Plans and delivers appropriate learning experiences for kindergarten students.
• Provides supervision and takes responsibility for care and safety of students in the absence of the teacher.
• Supervises students during nutrition breaks, rest periods or other breaks, and yard/bus duty.
• Guides students with positive behaviour and a safe learning environment that promotes inclusion.
• Monitors the learning environment and maintains student well-being and safety.
• Supports student development through play and social skill development.
• Maintains ongoing communication with parents/guardians and teams.
• Collaborates with school and support staff for program implementation and learning experiences for students with special needs.
• Attends staff meetings, parent/teacher interviews and other events as directed.
