Job description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reports to the Manager, Renal Services. Provides nursing care to patients with chronic and acute kidney disease. Works both independently and interdependently as a member of the multidisciplinary team with other care providers. Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and their families through assessment of bio-psycho-social and learning needs and works collaboratively with patients/families to support and facilitate informed choice and self care.

Qualifications

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.

Recent (within past 5 years) related experience and/or completion of recognized program in Nephrology Nursing or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
