Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Christmas Kettle Scheduler plays a key role in the success of this annual fundraiser through the recruitment and scheduling of volunteers, as well as supporting the kettle coordinator as needed.
Accountabilities
- Will assist in the recruitment of Christmas Kettle Workers (volunteers), assisting with orientation.
- Help coordinate the schedule for kettle staff & volunteers, and responds to emergency absences, etc.
- Make phone calls and send emails to recruit, retain and schedule volunteers.
- Fosters and maintains positive working relationships with kettle sites.
- May deliver and pick‑up kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations.
- May host at the kettle, as required, to ensure necessary coverage for breaks, etc.
- Record statistical data as required, for local/divisional/territorial offices.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Working Conditions
- This is a temporary position.
- Some flexibility in scheduling required, some weekend and evening work may be required.
- The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.
- Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.
- May deal with difficult people and verbal abuse.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
- This job requires reaching, bending, and stooping frequently, working in a sitting, and standing position for periods of time.
- Some travel locally will be required using a program vehicle.

Education and Experience Qualifications

- A minimum 2-year college diploma or equivalent
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- A minimum of two (2) years’ related experience (in fundraising and volunteer management)
- Demonstrated ability to connect with and establish relationship with volunteers.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

- Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening as required.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation
The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $20.64 with a maximum of $24.77.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
