Job summary

The Salvation Army in Canada is seeking a temporary seasonal Kettle Coordinator in Windsor to promote, recruit and oversee Christmas Kettle Campaign volunteers across locations.

You will supervise kettle operations, ensure volunteer coverage, train volunteers on kettle handling, and maintain positive relationships with site managers while ensuring donations are safeguarded. Local travel and flexible shifts are required; standard duties align with our mission and values.

Qualifications

  • Completed High School or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of customer service or campaign coordination experience.
  • Ontario Class G Driver's Licence.
  • Background Check required (CPIC or local).
  • May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.

Responsibilities

  • Promote, coordinate, and oversee the activities of Christmas Kettle Campaign volunteers.
  • Recruit kettle volunteers (individuals, groups, organizations and businesses).
  • Oversee the operations of the Christmas Kettle campaign including supervise, support, schedule volunteers and respond to emergency absences.
  • Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required.
  • Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently.
  • Remain at the Kettle for the full shift, ensuring security of donations received.
  • Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle locations’ management and employees.
  • Perform other position related duties as required.

Job Description
  • Promote, coordinate, and oversee the activities of Christmas Kettle Campaign volunteers.

MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY
  • This position reports directly to the Community Engagement Specialist or designate.
  • Direct report: N/A. Workflow coordinator for Christmas Kettle volunteers.
Financial And Materials Management
  • Responsible for coordination of kettles and ensuring the security of donations.
Working Conditions
  • This is a temporary seasonal full-time position, based on 40 hours per week.
  • Normal hours of work: as per campaign operational requirements.
  • Shifts will include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours will gradually increase as per the Christmas Kettle Campaign operational requirements.
  • Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
  • Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather
  • Local travel is associated with this position.
  • Normal location of work is: 355 Church Street, Windsor, ON N9A 7G9

Education, Qualifications And Certifications
  • Completed High School or equivalent.
  • Prior-related experience would be a definite asset (i.e. Campaign coordinating/Event, Fundraising experience)
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, current copy of driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
  • Must provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
  • May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service.
  • Experience in office administration.
  • Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL).

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $21.84 with a maximum of $26.20.
