Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Kettle Coordinator II for a short-term contract to oversee multiple Christmas Kettle locations in a defined zone. The role involves training, coordinating kettle setup, volunteer supervision, and ensuring secure handling of donations.

You will also recruit volunteers, monitor shifts, and communicate daily with the ATL partner, while maintaining accurate timesheets and contributing to a smooth campaign operation.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20–25 lbs).

Responsibilities

• Attend a day of training and orientation.

• Ensure all donations are secured and reported.
• Communicate daily issues to the City/Assistant Coordinator.
• Orient and supervise kettle volunteers throughout the campaign.

Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.
Kettle Coordinator II position is a short-term contract position. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign
• Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset
• Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion
• Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to City/Assistant Coordinator
• Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required
• Supervise, support and assign (as required) Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign
• Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers
• Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently
• Communicate daily with ATL partner for effective transition
• Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly basis)
• Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
• Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT

• Collect donations and petite cash and ensure donations are always kept secure.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work environment is typically in malls/stores
• Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
• Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
• Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion.
• Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications

• Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset

This is for a temporary part time position.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $15.91 to $19.89 with a maximum of $23.86. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
