Job description

As a Kafka platform administrator and operator, you help improve IT efficiency. You design, configure, administer, maintain and upgrade computer networks, management systems and database servers based on the organization’s needs. You work in an IT administrative department (IT foundations or cloud services) that delivers projects in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) using DevOps practices and that is responsible for the company’s high-criticality platforms. You help administer and update a platform used for event streaming. You analyze and diagnose complex issues. You provide opinions in accordance with your discipline’s rules and recommend solutions to improve and optimize standards, policies and programs. You propose implementation plans. Your projects and initiatives require extensive knowledge of your line of work. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Help develop the Confluent Cloud ecosystem (network, security, connectors and transformation with Kafka, alerts) that will support the platform and its users.
  • Develop tools and scripts used to automate system verification and monitoring tasks, and conduct post-implementation follow-up to ensure system availability.
  • Monitor the quality of IT services to identify situations that could jeopardize environment stability and formulate recommendations for preventive measures.
  • Help improve business continuity by developing, implementing and supporting backup systems.

What you bring to the table
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Experience with multiple data exchange formats (JSON, AVRO)
  • Experience with Agile/SAFe methodology and tools
  • Experience with continuous delivery, deployment and monitoring
  • Experience in observability: Using Splunk or equivalent, Elastic, creating relevant alerts
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • General knowledge of a cloud provider environment (Azure and/or AWS) and identity and security methods (IAM, RBAC, OAuth)
  • Knowledge of networking (DNS, TCP/IP, routing, security, HAProxy, Envoy, Nginx)
  • Familiarity with Linux: Linux administration (RedHat/CentOS, Ubuntu), advanced shell scripting, diagnostic tools (tcpdump, dig, netstat/ss, strace, etc.)
  • Knowledge of application container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS)
  • Knowledge of DevOps (or DevSecOps)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD mode (GitHub, Jenkins2, Azure DevOps, Terraform)
  • Knowledge of concepts related to message queues (Kafka, Flink, KSQlDB, Kafka connectors)
  • Proficiency in one of the following programming languages: Java, Python, GO, Shellscript
