Job summary

CIMA+ in Ottawa is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Junior Electrical Technologist to contribute to municipal, industrial, and transit projects. You will design and implement electrical systems and prepare design documentation.

This role requires a post-secondary diploma in Electrical design technology, knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit. Join a collaborative team and help deliver cost-effective engineering solutions across Canada.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical design for building systems.
  • Post-secondary diploma in Electrical design technology.
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems, including: Power distribution, lighting design, controls, fire alarm, emergency and exit lighting.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Extensive proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for electrical design and drafting.
  • Experience with capital region clients (e.g., BGIS) is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Design power distribution systems including single line diagrams, power layouts, and emergency power systems.
  • Develop lighting layouts, fire alarm, communications, and security systems for building services.
  • Prepare design documentation including calculations, specifications, contract documents, and as-built drawings.
  • Conduct site investigations, inspections, and field work for the design and construction phases.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review construction progress for compliance with contract documents and participate in factory and site acceptance testing.
  • Ensure designs adhere to applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Develop design reports, technical proposals, schedules, and cost estimates.

We are currently looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented Junior Electrical Technologist to be part of the team. As a Junior Technologist, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of electrical systems for various municipal, industrial, and transit sector projects.
