A food manufacturing company in Alberta is seeking a Junior QC/Lab Technician to perform microbiological testing on materials and finished products. The ideal candidate will have a Higher Nitec or Diploma in Food Science or Microbiology, along with prior experience in microbiological testing within the food industry. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Interested applicants should send a detailed resume via email.
Perform microbiological laboratory specific methods on materials or finished products, special projects or specified testing as directed.
Prepare reagent/media preparation, sample collection and identification, sample testing and reporting result
Perform accurate recording of analytical results in worksheet and highlight any deviation in quality and safety to superior timely. Assist troubleshooting to find out the root cause of deviation
Perform routine lab maintenance, including but not limited to lab cleaning & sanitization, lab environmental monitoring and lab equipment maintenance
Conduct sampling at internal and external warehouses and incoming raw materials as required.
Participate in quality control, problem solving, continuous quality improvement activities and assist any out of specification investigation
Comply with all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures; actively contribute to a safe working environment.
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Higher Nitec, or Diploma in Food Science, Microbiology
Prior experience in microbiological testing within the food industry.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5 days work week
