Position : Junior Ocean Import Coordinator – Ocean Freight

Reports to : Ocean ManagerLocation : Lachine

As a Logistics Coordinator, you'll be a key contributor to the Ocean team, managing daily logistics operations and ensuring the efficient movement of ocean freight. This role involves collaborating with both internal teams and external partners to support the company’s logistics goals and maintain smooth transportation processes.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Ocean team units to identify, report, and resolve shipping-related issues;
  • Communicate with ocean carriers, port terminals, and other external stakeholders;
  • Coordinate with origin teams to address origin-related concerns;
  • Review and verify daily tracking reports and master datafiles for Dollarama and vendor shipments;
  • Monitor shipment status and vessel arrivals at ports of discharge (POD); report any exceptions;
  • Manage shipping documentation and report any exceptions;
  • Follow up on pending bill of lading (B / L) releases and resolve related hold issues (e.g., demurrage, storage);
  • Verify ocean shipping terms and conditions;
  • Analyze shipping data and generate reports;
  • Support special freight projects as needed;
  • Review forecasts to assist with space planning;
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to ensure smooth operations; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Job Requirements
  • DEC or AEC in Transportation, Logistics, or equivalent;
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in ocean shipping; prior experience with an ocean carrier is preferred;
  • Solid understanding of international ocean shipping regulations;
  • Proven expertise in ocean shipping operations and procedures;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Team-oriented, fast learner, and able to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP, and data analysis tools;
  • Detail-oriented, results-driven and collaborative; and
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
