Job summary

A leading IT consulting firm in Montreal is looking for a Junior Middleware Specialist to join its Middleware team. You will be responsible for supporting IBM MQ and Rabbit MQ environments, offering L2 support, and deploying applications at client sites. The role requires strong analytical skills, bilingual proficiency in English and French, and a related bachelor's degree. This hybrid position involves working onsite 4 days a week.

Position Description

As a Staff Augmentation – Junior Middleware Specialist, you'll join CGI’s Middleware team, working onsite 4 days/week at a Montreal-based client. In this hybrid, hands‑on role, you'll support middleware platforms (IBM MQ/Rabbit MQ), enterprise application deployment, and provide L2 support under the guidance of senior team members. Your future duties and responsibilities
  • Assist in designing, installing, and configuring IBM MQ and/or Rabbit MQ environments
  • Deploy and configure enterprise applications at client site
  • Provide second‑level support to developers and application teams
  • Log, track, and resolve incidents; propose sustainable solutions
  • Contribute to automation or improvement initiatives for middleware and deployment processes
  • Collaborate with client IT and business stakeholders on practical, cost‑effective solutions
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Learn emerging technologies and apply them to ongoing initiatives
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Essential Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience with IBM MQ or similar middleware
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical skills
  • Experience with middleware installation, configuration, and upgrades
  • Fully bilingual (English/French), both spoken and written
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid setting and onsite in Montreal 4 days/week
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Effective communicator and strong team player
Desired Qualifications
  • Basic Python or scripting experience
  • Familiarity with microservices and REST API development
  • Exposure to tools like Jenkins, Docker, AWS
  • Interest in cloud technologies and automation
  • Motivated to learn and develop professionally

Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this position due to the nature of the role requiring interaction with national and global clients.
