Job summary

WSP invites you to join its Southern Ontario Hydrogeology Team as a Junior Hydrogeologist. You will support diverse investigations across Ontario, gaining hands-on field experience while contributing to water resource management and environmental stewardship.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, develop technical skills through mentorship, and grow within a global engineering and science firm committed to sustainable infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Eligibility for registration as a P.Geo., GIT, or EIT in Ontario.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork in varying weather conditions and remote locations.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License with a clean record and vehicle access.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and hydrogeological techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Support hydrogeological, environmental, and engineering investigations across multidisciplinary projects.
  • Conduct field programs including drilling oversight, soil/rock logging, sampling, well installation, aquifer testing, and data collection.
  • Compile, manage, interpret, and analyze field data to support technical assessments using digital tools.
  • Collaborate with hydrogeologists, geoscientists, engineers, and environmental professionals to deliver solutions.
  • Contribute to hydrogeological analyses, site models, visualizations, and recommendations for project success.
  • Prepare technical reports and project documentation with high quality standards.
  • Champion safety by following WSP health and safety procedures in field and office environments.
  • Grow expertise through mentorship and exposure to impactful projects.

Your Impact
  • Support hydrogeological, environmental, and engineering investigations across a variety of complex, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Conduct field programs including drilling oversight, soil and rock logging, sampling, well installation, aquifer testing, stream flow monitoring, groundwater and surface water sampling, and environmental data collection.
  • Compile, manage, interpret, and analyze field data to support technical assessments and project decisions using digital tools and systems.
  • Collaborate with hydrogeologists, geoscientists, engineers, and environmental specialists to deliver innovative solutions for infrastructure and environmental projects.
  • Contribute to hydrogeological analyses, conceptual site models, visualizations, and technical recommendations that support project success.
  • Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and proposal support materials while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Champion a strong safety culture by adhering to WSP and client health and safety procedures in both field and office environments.
  • Grow your expertise through senior mentorship, technical development opportunities, and exposure to projects that create lasting impact for communities and the environment.
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Eligibility for registration as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.), Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT), or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in Ontario.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork in varying weather conditions and remote locations.
  • Valid unrestricted Ontario Class G Driver's License (or equivalent), a clean driving record, and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems effectively, and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies, systems, and hydrogeological techniques while contributing to a high-performing team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree or post-graduate education with knowledge of hydrogeological principles and concepts.
  • Experience with hydrogeological field investigations, environmental monitoring programs, or testing equipment.
  • Familiarity with hydrogeological analysis software, including AQTESOLV.
  • Experience with digital data collection and data management systems.
  • Strong field and laboratory skills with demonstrated application of hydrogeological principles.
  • Knowledge of groundwater and surface water interactions and hydrogeological processes.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $60,100 - $79,600

MB & ON: $54,800 - $75,400

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $54,200 - $72,000
