Job summary

Hatch, located in Mississauga, ON, is seeking a Civil Engineer to lead design activities for mining and heavy industrial projects. You will manage site grading, drainage, roads, and earthworks, while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with multi-disciplined teams.

The role emphasizes project leadership, technical rigor, and strong interpersonal skills in a dynamic global practice. An Ontario license or eligibility is preferred and up to 2 years of related experience is expected.

Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering degree from a recognized engineering program at an accredited University.
  • Experience managing and leading projects within Civil Engineering Discipline.
  • Licensed Engineer, or eligible for license, within the province of Ontario preferred.
  • Up to 2 years of relevant industry experience (i.e. mining, energy or infrastructure).
  • Project Management experience with small to mid-size scale projects.
  • Site grading design.
  • Drainage design, storm sewers design, and storm management.
  • Roads design.
  • Sanitary sewers design.
  • Hydrology and hydraulics.
  • Thorough understanding of the design process including the application of civil design software packages.
  • Previous design experience in bulk earthworks, site grading, storm drainage, access and haul roads and earth structures for large size projects.

Responsibilities

  • Managing civil projects through to completion which are assigned in areas of bulk earthworks, site drainage, mine and plant roads and earth and mine tailings structures design.
  • QA/QC of design calculations and contract documents.
  • Assuming responsibilities of discipline practice on assigned project scope.
  • Working collaboratively with the project managers and multi-disciplined design teams.
  • Quality control – Drawing and calculations checking and verification.

Compensation

Range: $81,000 - $84,000

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location.
