Job summary

Aplin Martin is seeking a Junior Civil Engineer Designer for its Oakville office. You will prepare construction drawings and assist the design team across multidisciplinary projects, using Civil 3D and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of land development and municipal design experience, internships, and strong communication and organizational skills. Salary range is 65,000–80,000 CAD and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 1-2 years of land development and/or municipal design experience.
• Relevant internships.
• Experience in commercial, subdivisions and site plan design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed design drawings using Civil 3D and AutoCAD for land development and municipal projects.
• Prepare road design and grading for urban residential developments.
• Develop engineering drawings for land development and water resources projects.
• Coordinate design with multidisciplinary teams and prepare contract documents for tendering.
• Prepare grading, servicing, and stormwater plans and related calculations.

Position Overview:

An opportunity currently exists in ourOakvilleoffice for a Junior CivilEngineeringDesigner. The successful candidate(s) willbe requiredto prepare construction drawings/documents,assistin the coordination of design and specifications within the context of a multidisciplinary design team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed design drawings (primarily using Civil 3D, and related applications) for a variety of assignedLand Development and Municipalengineering projects.
• Preparing road design and final grading for urban residential development projects.
• Developing engineering drawings and designs for land development and related water resources projects.
• Participating in full-service design of Civil/Municipal engineering projects
• Stormwater management,sitegrading, sanitary sewer and water distribution system design for subdivision and land development engineering projects
• Interpret topographic informationrequiredfor design.
• Performsiteandlotgrading.
• Complete the technical analysis of municipal infrastructure components.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Compile as-built records for design and record drawings; and
• Prepare contract documents for project tendering and execute project design drawings.
• Prepare grading, servicing, erosion and sediment control plans, details, and technical drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D for municipal infrastructure, land development, and site developmental projects.
• Prepare Functional Servicing and Stormwater Management Reports in support of Zoning By-law Amendment andSitePlan Application.
• Prepare water/wastewater servicing calculations for proposed land development projects.
• Prepare stormwater management quantity and quality calculations.
• Coordinate design with consultant team including but not limitedto:architect, landscape architect, mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, traffic consultant, hydrogeologist, and geotechnical engineer.
• Prepare formal response letters to approving agencies addressing development engineering comments.

Skills and Qualifications:

• A Civil Engineering Degree from an Accredited Institution.
• 1-2years of land developmentand ormunicipal design experience.
• RelevantInternships.
• Experience in Commercial, Subdivisions andSitePlanDesign.
• Strong workethicand motivation tosucceed.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skillsandmust be well organized to be able to prioritize multiple tasks anddemonstratea flexible approach to work assignments.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skillsets, and qualifications.
