As our Junior Accountant, you will be responsible for the completion of moderately complex accounting work and respond to telephone inquiries and assist with special accounting projects as required. Get ready to make a real difference in the lives of Sandbox employees!

Responsibilities
- Process payments from brokers and policyholders.
- Monitor and respond to policyholder, broker and general internal inquiries.
- Monitor policyholder and broker past‑due accounts.
- Prepare and process monthly broker statements and corresponding commission payments.
- Review, organize and code general expenses.
- Prepare digital payments to vendors, brokers and other payees.
- Assist with formatting month‑end reports and reconciliation to general ledger.
- Maintain petty cash fund and process incoming funds.
- Create manual journal entries based upon pre‑established criteria or direction from more senior staff.
- Train and provide guidance to clerical staff.
- Perform related duties as required.
What You Bring To Sandbox
- Education: A one‑year business accountancy specialty diploma through a company approved institution or completion of 60 credits toward a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in accounting.
- Experience Counts: One year’s experience in the insurance industry or the accounting field.
- Ability to perform detailed work accurately.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and manage multiple tasks and deadlines despite interruption.
- Fantastic detail‑orientation skills with strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
- Friendliness and interpersonal communication skills — the ability to maintain effective working relationships with team members and encouragement of company culture.
