Job description
Overview

We are seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to support our team. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience in accounting processes and opportunities for professional growth in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting managers and senior accountants in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual closings
  • Recording daily financial transactions and maintaining accurate ledgers
  • Processing invoices, monthly payments, preparation of check run, expense reports and bank reconciliations
  • Performing accounts payable
  • Processing financial entries to ensure a proper recording of all business transactions
  • Assisting in financial reporting, including balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements as per the company’s legal, financial, and accounting guidelines
  • Provide support for internal audits by organizing documentation and responding to basic inquiries
  • Assist with tax filings, such as HST/GST returns, under supervision
  • Collaborate with team members to identify process improvements and maintain accurate records.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (recent graduates are welcome to apply)
  • 1-2 years of entry-level accounting experience
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience in construction or development industry will be a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems and accounting software will be a plus (Yardi Voyager is an asset).
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Enrollment in Ontario CPA program or equivalent certification in progress.
  • Experience with basic financial analysis or multi-entity reporting.
  • Knowledge of tax compliance basics.
