We are seeking a detail‑oriented and highly motivated Junior Accountant to join our finance team at our office in Calgary, Alberta. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in accounts payable, bank payments, and ERP systems, along with strong organizational and communication skills. Prior experience in the construction or real estate industry is highly preferred. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop professional accounting expertise within a dynamic and project‑driven environment.

🔍 What You’ll Do
  • Process vendor invoices and ensure accurate and timely recording of accounts payable transactions.
  • Prepare, review, and execute bank payments, maintaining up‑to‑date payment schedules and documentation.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances to support project‑related financial activities.
  • Assist with month‑end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain proper documentation for accounting transactions in compliance with company policies, tax and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and other departments to resolve invoice or payment discrepancies.
  • Support cost allocation and expense tracking for engineering and construction projects.
  • Generate periodic financial and management reports as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and external partners to ensure smooth accounting operations.
✅ What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in accounts payable or general accounting.
  • Experience with an ERP system (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities (small team).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Experience in the construction and/or real estate industries, including familiarity with project accounting, progress billings, and cost control.
  • Basic understanding of GAAP or IFRS accounting principles.
