Job summary

Tacten seeks professional Instrumentation Technicians for our Kitimat, BC site. The role requires IRATA certification and involves maintenance and calibration of cryogenic instrumentation, DCS/PLC/ESD systems and hazardous locations.

Relocation is required with up to 3 months of temporary housing offered. Immediate start and 40 hr/week with potential overtime. Certifications are required with application.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Instrumentation Certification is required.
  • IRATA Rope Access certification or willingness to obtain.
  • BC safety certifications as required.
  • Located in Kitimat BC or willing to relocate.
  • Strong knowledge of cryogenic processes, automation, and process control systems.
  • Experience with DCS, PLC, and ESD systems (Honeywell, Emerson, Yokogawa, A-B).
  • Proficient in reading P&IDs, loop drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of CSA, API, ISA standards for instrumentation and hazardous locations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical thinking and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate and verify accuracy of transmitters on cryogenic systems, compressors and LNG tanks.
  • Diagnose faults in DCS, PLC and ESD systems to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Inspect and service instruments, analyzers and control valves to minimize downtime.
  • Assist in commissioning, loop checks and function testing during startups and shutdowns.
  • Maintain calibration records and diagrams per ISO and safety procedures.

Job description

Position Summary

Tacten is seeking professional, energetic and forward-thinking JP Instrumentation Technicians with IRATA certification to support operations on our site located in Kitimat BC.

  • Position is based locally in Kitimat BC. relocation is required
  • Immediate Start date
  • Position will be 40 hrs./week and possible overtime
  • Salary range $59.50/hr. depending on certifications
  • We are able to offer up to 3 months of temporary housing to assist with your relocation transition if required.

Responsibilities
  • Calibrate and verify accuracy of pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters on cryogenic systems, compressors, and LNG storage tanks to ensure reliable process control.
  • Diagnose faults in DCS, PLC, and ESD (Emergency Shutdown) systems, tracing signal issues or sensor failures that could impact process safety or production efficiency.
  • Carry out regular inspections and servicing of instruments, analyzers (e.g., gas chromatographs, moisture analyzers), and control valves to minimize downtime and ensure safe operations.
  • Participate in commissioning new systems, loop checking, and function testing during plant startups or planned shutdowns, ensuring all instrumentation meets LNG operational standards.
  • Maintain accurate calibration records, loop diagrams, and maintenance logs in accordance with site procedures, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements for hazardous environments.

  • Experience supporting commissioning and shutdown activities.
  • Proficiency/experience in trades/industrial settings
  • Familiarity with LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) operations
