Job summary

Komatsu America Corp. Fort McMurray, Alberta is seeking an experienced welder to support our heavy mining equipment shop. You will perform structural welds, read blueprints, and work with GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW on large iron.

This role offers steady hours, a collaborative crew, and opportunities to advance within a global technology leader. Reports to Supervisor, Welding Shop; shift is 7x7 days/nights; travel up to 25% within Canada and the USA; relocation not offered.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years welding experience, preferably on mining equipment.
• All-position CWB certification and heat-treat experience are strong assets.
• Hold a valid class 5 driver’s licence and ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform all‑position welding using GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW with various wire sizes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols for repairs and fabrication.
• Use oxy/fuel cutting equipment and electric welding machines safely and effectively.
• Complete structural and mechanical welds on heavy mining equipment and components.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
• Follow all safety procedures and ensure the well‑being of yourself and your crew.

Reports to: Supervisor, Welding Shop
Shift: 7x7- rotation of days and nights
Allowances: Additional premiums and allowances are associated with this position due to location
Safety Sensitive: Yes- drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and submission of 5-year provincial driving record will be required
Travel: up to 25% travel within Canada and the USA
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation

Key Job Responsibilities
