Job description

The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada’s largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Journeyperson Welder to join our team. Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, the Journeyperson Welder is responsible for providing repairs, overhauls and new builds to mining related equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs and complete overhauls on heavy mining equipment according to schedule.
• Make recommendations regarding extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement.
• Interpret work order and technical manuals.
• Complete job specific reports and paperwork.
• Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety, and follow all rules and legislation.

Job Conditions

• Full proficiency in English.

• Willing to perform repetitive tasks.
• Comfortable working at heights.
• Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.
• Job tasks may be physically demanding, lifting to 50 lbs.
• Experience with Komatsu, CAT, Epiroc equipment is an asset.
• Experience in repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.
• This position is primarily site-based, with a work rotation structured to accommodate both employee and employer needs.
• Mining company/mine site experience is an asset.
• This position is based in Geraldton, Ontario.

Certifications

• Red Seal Journeyperson Welding certification.
• Valid driver’s license.

Education
