Job summary

The City of Saskatoon is seeking a skilled Journeyperson Motor Vehicle Body Repairer to maintain and repair transit vehicle bodies. The role requires MIG welding, painting, refinishing, and aluminium panel expertise, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

This full-time position offers 40 hours per week and a wage of CAD 41.09–$43.41 per hour, depending on experience. Closing date is 2026-10-30; remote work is not indicated.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education required.
• Valid Saskatchewan Journeyperson Motor Vehicle Body Repairer certificate.
• 5 years' journeyperson experience with MIG welders, painting and refinishing.
• Experience repairing aluminium panels and sub-framing on monocoque buses/coaches is an asset.
• Valid Saskatchewan Class 5A Driver's Licence (1A preferred).
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform collision repair and refinishing.
• Perform checks to ensure compliance with system standards, applicable laws and safety regulations.
• Refurbish bodies, seats and interiors of vehicles and equipment.
• Report observed defects and potential problem areas encountered during repairs.
• Make minor repair and replacement decisions in line with preventive maintenance and estimates.
• Provide reports and data to record work performed and vehicle condition.
• Use tools and shop equipment safely and effectively.
• Participate in on-the-job training as required by maintenance staff.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
