Job summary

Red Deer Public Schools is seeking a Journeyperson Plumber to join the Facility Services team in Red Deer, Alberta. The successful candidate will maintain, repair and install plumbing systems across district facilities with reporting to the Manager of Facility Services.

Responsibilities include installations, diagnostics, annual inspections, and backup support to HVAC technicians. The role requires legal certifications and a valid driver’s license, with pay per the CUPE Local 1012 agreement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and Journeyperson Plumbing Certification.
• Alberta Class 5 Driver's License.
• Journeyman Gas Ticket – Class B required; Class A desirable.
• Backflow Prevention Certification.
• 4th Class Power Engineering Certification and First Aid training are assets.
• Experience as a Journeyman Plumber in a commercial setting.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair plumbing systems, including water, sewer, drainage and natural gas piping.
• Troubleshoot and repair plumbing fixtures and equipment, including sinks, toilets, hot water tanks, pumps, valves and food services equipment.
• Coordinate annual inspections of plumbing-related systems, including backflow prevention, and maintain documentation.
• Support boiler and hydronic heating system maintenance and provide backup support to the HVAC Technician.
• Complete work orders and preventative maintenance, accurately documenting labour and materials.
• Identify and report maintenance deficiencies, code concerns and safety hazards.
• Assist with project planning, material purchasing, contractor coordination and budget management.
• Provide general Facility Services support including emergency call-outs.
