Job summary

Silent-Aire Limited Partnership, a Johnson Controls subsidiary, is expanding its Edmonton manufacturing teams. Journeyperson Plumber will install, maintain and repair plumbing and heating systems in a large factory setting, working with HVAC, air lines, gas, water pipes, and compressed air equipment.

You will review blueprints, support equipment commissioning, train apprentices, manage inventory, and uphold safety standards under Alberta OH&S rules.

Qualifications

  • College or vocational/technical training preferred.
  • Credentials and certifications for industrial plumbing required.
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations and facility utilities.

Responsibilities

  • Installs and maintains plumbing assemblies in HVAC equipment.
  • Reviews blueprints and specifications to ensure designs function as intended.
  • Tends to plumbing, air, and vacuum issues to keep production running.
  • Participates in construction and remodeling projects involving plumbing, gas fittings.
  • Maintains maintenance programs and safety documentation.
  • Assists in training and supervising junior employees.
  • Performs plumbing inventory and parts orders.
  • Provides technical assistance and emergency response to facilities.
  • Sets up and tests HVAC equipment for proper performance.
  • Keeps detailed maintenance reports and adheres to safety standards.
  • Adheres to Alberta OH&S Act and Silent-Aire safety program.
  • Other duties as required.

Overview

TheJourneypersonPlumber willbe responsible forthe installation, maintenance and repairs associated with plumbing and heating requirements for a large manufacturing environment.This positionwill work using safe work practices with items such as, but not limitedto:air conditioning, humidifiers, gas lines, waterpipesand sewer utilities in and about the facilities, as well asmaintainingand repairing compressed air lines, compressors, and vacuum pumps.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Installs commercial and in-house produced plumbing assemblies into in-process HVAC equipment.
  • Reviews blueprints andspecifications;ensures drawings and specifications will function as designed inenvironmentintended for use andmaintainsdrawings to reflect accurately any changes and/or additions that are made.
  • Tendstoplumbing, air, and vacuum issues to keep production equipment running.
  • Participates in all construction and remodeling projects involving plumbing, air conditioning, or gas fitting changes and/or additions.
  • Tends to the maintenance and preventative maintenance programs including cleaning for all plumbing,heating, andair conditioning, and air and vacuum related equipment.
  • Proposes changes or modifications to plans to enhance production and efficiency of systems plans and specifications for sanitation facilities.
  • Assistin training, directing, and supervision of junior employees and apprentices, inspecting and certifying their work.
  • Performs plumbing inventory and orders parts asrequired.
  • Reviews coding accuracy of assigned builds.
  • Provides technical Assistance/Emergency Response services to existing facilities.
  • Set up and tests finished HVAC equipment for proper performance/customer requirements.
  • Keeps detailed andaccuratemaintenance reports and safety documentation.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair techniques.
  • Performs all dutiesin accordance withSilent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
  • Other duties asrequired.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training preferred.
  • Appropriate credentials and certifications - Industrial Plumber Trade Certification, 5th PeriodApprentice and working towards an Industrial Plumber Red Seal Certificate.
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionallyat all times.
Working Conditions
  • 24/7 availability may berequired.
  • Must have the physical ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
  • Travel to off-site locations may berequired.
  • Always adhere to safety policies (wear protective equipment).
  • Overtime asrequired.
  • Hazards associated withthe trade.
  • Work both indoors andoutdoors,may be exposed to construction sites.
