Summary of Position
Brian Jessel BMW is looking for Journeyman Automotive Service Technician and Automotive Apprentices.
The BMW Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining vehicles to BMW Standards and Specifications. The Automotive Apprentice Technician assists the Automotive Service Technicians on repair and maintenance services to customers’ vehicles with the BMW standard of quality. The Apprentice learns from the Lead Technician and is working towards obtaining Red Seal certification.
KPIs
- Repairing and maintaining motor vehicles according to BMW Factory and Dealership Standards with efficiency and accuracy
- Ensuring appropriate vehicle repairs to minimize come-backs and to fix-it-right the first time by quality assuring work
- Maintaining thorough knowledge and understanding of all information provided on manufacturer technical bulletins
- Coaching apprentices and junior technicians to ensure knowledge transfer / practical application
- Completing all SIPs prior to attending BMW University training
- Actively maintaining BMW Technician Certification (Level 1 – Associate, Level 2 – Member, Level 3 – Certified, Level 4 – Master, iCar, Hybrid, etc.)
- Achieving shop productivity targets
- Writing sufficient and clear notes / stories on each repair order
- Accurately punching onto jobs in Reynolds & Reynolds
- Following shop policies and procedures
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Ensuring repairs are performed efficiently and to BMW Quality Standards
- Work closely with Licensed Technicians and Service Advisors to ensure all necessary service and repair work is brought to the customer’s attention
- Examining the vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is required
- Ensuring all high-level diagnostic repairs and comeback repairs are Quality Control Checked by the Respective Shop Foreman
- Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and perform repair
- Inspect fluid levels and top up as needed
- Check and replace various filters
- Drain and replace engine, transmission & differential lubricants
- Rotate, repair, mount & balance tires
- Produce quality work that ensures vehicles are fixed right the first time to reduce come backs
- Maintain and clean shop equipment
- Ensuring all of the equipment needed to provide efficient service is kept in good working order.
- Working with the Service Advisors to ensure all necessary service and repair work is brought to the customer’s attention
- Providing clear and concise notes and time tickets with respect to all repairs
- Notifying and documenting any unsafe condition in the Workplace
- Notifying and documenting on the repair order any unsafe vehicle
- Maintaining a clean workplace and cleanliness with respect to Customer’s vehicles
- Notifying the Shop Foreman or Manager of any damage not noted on the repair order or damage caused by a repair
- Review work orders and discuss work with Team Leader or Shop Foreman
- Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, Diagnose Electronic and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults
- Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment
- Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications
- Perform vehicle inspections using electronic inspection forms

- BMW factory equipment and tools to perform complex diagnostics and repairs
- BMW factory training with access to two BMW training facilities in Canada. As well as access to a vast library of BMW-specific online training.
- Brain Jessel supports technician development through participation in BMW Certified and Master technician programs. The highest level BMW technicians are recognized and rewarded with trips to driving events, factory visits, etc.

Job Specifications
- Journeyman status in the Automotive trade or registered as an Automotive Apprentice
- Proven work experience with BMW vehicles an asset
- Must be comfortable in diagnosis and repair mechanical and electrical problems
- Must be able to work independently and in team when required
- Jobs include but not limited to : Clutch / suspension / front end / timing belt / head gasket / alignment
- Reynolds and Reynolds computer experience preferred
- Very detail-oriented and possesses strong organizational skills
- A team player capable of interacting professionally with both staff, and customers
- Adaptability and flexibility to ensure highest level of service for staff and clients
- Good interpersonal skills, with ability to effectively work and communicate with other members of the dealership
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with clean drivers abstract
- Must be working towards obtaining Provincial red seal certification
- Strong time management and organizational Skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. repeatedly

Compensation
$20.00-$47.00 per hour + bonus plan
Work Environment
Our hours of operations are below. The hours and days of work are dependent on your role with a 40-hour workweek for full-time employment.
Monday to Friday from 7 : 30am to 6 : 00pm
Saturday from 8 : 30am to 5 : 00pm
