Job Posting: Journeyman Automotive Mechanic

Job Type: FULL-TIME 40 HOURS PER WEEK- HOURLY PAID, NOT FLAT RATE


About Us:

We are a locally owned vehicle rental business dedicated to maintaining a reliable fleet for our customers. Our team takes pride in delivering exceptional service and ensuring every vehicle meets high standards for safety and performance. We are looking for an experienced Journeyman Automotive Mechanic to join us and keep our fleet running smoothly. We work Monday thru Friday with weekends off as a priority but sometimes we need to put in an extra day in the summer. We usually close up shop for all Stat and Civic Holidays with a few Extra days off at Christmas too.


Job Description:

Responsibilities:


  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, vans, and other rolling assets.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using industry-standard diagnostic tools.

  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential problems and ensure vehicle reliability.

  • Perform engine, brake system, and transmission repairs, along with other mechanical work as needed.

  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.

  • Collaborate with the rental team to ensure vehicles are road-ready for customers.

  • Stay updated with industry advancements in automotive technology.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and shop guidelines while performing duties.


Compensation Structure:

This position is hourly paid, rather than flat-rate, meaning your hard work and expertise are fairly compensated for every hour you dedicate to servicing and maintaining vehicles. Unlike flat-rate pay structures—where mechanics may be pressured to complete jobs quickly to maximize earnings—our hourly pay ensures you can focus on quality craftsmanship, thorough diagnostics, and precise repairs without feeling rushed. We value your skills, expertise, and time, and believe in providing stability and fair wages for the essential work you do.


Wages to commensurate with your experience- $40 to $60 per hour


Qualifications:


  • Journeyman Automotive Mechanic certification or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in automotive repair and maintenance.

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with automotive diagnostic tools and repair equipment.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Valid driver's license.
