Brass Musicians – Badlands Amphitheatre

The Badlands Amphitheatre is looking for a Tuba player, Trumpet player, and Trombonist for our 2025 production of The Canadian Badlands Passion Play in Drumheller, AB. The play tells an epic story of faith, hope & love based on the life of Christ. It is performed on Canada’s largest outdoor stage, with a company of professional and semi‑professional actors (plus volunteers) and a professional production crew.

Job Description: The Badlands Passion Play has a 6‑person band that supports the performance with an interactive score. Band members work with the Musical Director and the Onstage Conductor to rehearse and time the score with the action onstage. The music includes underscoring, fanfares, and accompaniment of larger choral pieces. The band joins the cast and crew a week before Dress Rehearsal.

Duties:

  • Attend rehearsals and performances as required.
  • Practice and review music in preparation for rehearsals and performances.
  • Coordinate music with the action onstage with the Music Director.
  • Bring instruments and any required supplies to each service.

Schedule (services):

  • Wednesday July 2: Tech Rehearsal – 2 services
  • Thursday July 3: Dress Rehearsal – 2 services
  • Friday July 4: Preview – 1 service
  • Saturday July 5: Evening Show – 1 service
  • Sunday July 6: Afternoon Show – 1 service
  • Friday July 11: Evening Show – 1 service
  • Saturday July 12: Evening Show – 1 service
  • Sunday July 13: Afternoon Show – 1 service
  • Friday July 18: Evening Show – 1 service
  • Saturday July 19: Evening Show – 1 service
  • Sunday July 20: Afternoon Show – 1 service

Compensation:

  • Starts at $125.00 per service.
  • Band performs outdoors in all weather on varied terrain.
  • Lockable storage for instruments; alternative arrangements if needed.
  • Band members wear costumes during final rehearsals and performances.
  • Camping available for band, cast, and crew.
