Elastic, the Search AI Company, is hiring a Java Engineer II to join the AutoOps Backend team in Canada. You will write clean Java code, implement RESTful services, and help design scalable systems that process data and AI-powered insights.

This role offers flexible location across Canada with stock options, RRSP matching, and comprehensive benefits. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve performance and reliability of the ELK stack.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Java programming experience.
• Experience in system design and architecture.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful services.
• Familiarity with ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
• Experience with operational investigations and troubleshooting performance.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new issues.
• Knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Track record using AI to accelerate development.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and work autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, maintainable Java code following best practices.
• Review code and troubleshoot in production.
• Integrate third-party APIs and perform unit/integration tests.
• Develop business and infrastructure logic for the ELK stack.
• Implement RESTful services for system communication.
• Ensure data consistency during integration.
• Define integration requirements with cross-functional teams.
• Address performance and concurrency challenges.
• Leverage AI tools to improve productivity and quality.
• Own end-to-end operational investigations until resolved.
• Support engineers with complex issues.
