Job summary

Jobtailor in Toronto seeks a senior Software Engineer to design, code, test, and maintain Java-based applications and microservices in a cloud-native setting.

You will work in an Agile team to implement REST APIs, ensure security and quality through automated tests, and contribute to robust, scalable interfaces and systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's level degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, IT Engineering or equivalent (graduate/post-graduate).
• 10+ years of experience with Java, REST API, Microservices, MQ, Spring Framework/Spring Boot, Cloud development.
• Experience with cloud-native solutions, DevOps, modernization efforts, and enterprise security concepts.
• Proven leadership/facilitation skills to manage cross-functional teams in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and code application programs; perform testing for developed applications.
• Review, analyze and modify programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging, and installing for large-scale systems.
• Ensure operating efficiency of existing application systems and maintain documentation for systems development and revisions.

• Contribute to intuitive, robust, and reusable user interfaces using modern API frameworks.
• Collaborate in an Agile product team to deliver exceptional products and ensure alignment with RBC guidelines.
• Develop feasibility studies and proposals for senior management on large complex projects.
• Provide consulting on new and strategic initiatives.

• Design and code application programs; performing testing for developed applications


• Review, analyze and modify programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for a large-scale system


• Ensure the operating efficiency of existing application systems and maintain records for the documentation of systems development and revisions

• Provides consulting services on new and strategic initiatives (medium to large and of varying complexity)

Requirements

• Experience working on cloud native solutions and DevOps technology and modernization


• Knowledge of enterprise-level security concepts and methodologies, including SSO, SSL, encryption, Apigee, authentication and entitlements


• Demonstrated leadership/facilitation skills to manage cross functional development teams utilizing an Agile methodology
