Job summary

Nunatsiavut Government is seeking a casual janitor to perform cleaning and maintenance duties at facilities in Nain, NL. The role involves floor care, surface cleaning, trash removal and stock replenishment, with training provided as needed.

The position requires a high school diploma and at least 1 year of cleaning experience, ability to lift up to 25 lbs, and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision. This casual term reports to the Finance, HR & IT department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of janitorial experience.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Comfortable standing, walking, bending and lifting.
• Attention to detail and time management.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop and vacuum floors in offices, hallways, lobbies and common areas.
• Dust and wipe surfaces including desks, windowsills and shelves.
• Empty trash and replace bags.
• Clean and sanitize sinks and toilets.
• Replenish soap, toilet paper and paper towels.
• Wipe down countertops, tables and appliances.
• Clean windows and light fixtures as required.
• Shampoo carpets as scheduled.
• Maintain janitorial supplies and restock as needed.
• Follow safety procedures, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Provide cleaning support for events and accommodation units.
• Training as required.
• Other duties as required.
