Job description

MoD is currently recruiting an IVVQ Automation Specialist (Junior) on behalf of our client located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

This is an exciting 6-month contract opportunity for an analytical professional with foundational experience in Python and Perl, seeking to support test automation efforts in large-scale software delivery projects. This role is ideal for individuals looking to apply and grow their programming and testing skills in a real-world, engineering-focused environment.

Key Duties
  • Analyze system, subsystem, and software requirements to support verification activities using automation tools (ATE)
  • Assist with the design, development, and maintenance of automated test scripts in Python and Perl
  • Contribute to the integration of test scripts into automation frameworks and CI / CD pipelines
  • Document and communicate test observations and results to technical teams and stakeholders
  • Perform test case analysis and engineering studies of system functions
  • Execute test cases in both laboratory and OPSIM environments
  • Identify and log system anomalies in the defect tracking system
  • Analyze test data to assess system performance against expected outcomes
  • Run operational and stress-test (“bust-it”) scenarios
  • Continuously build product knowledge through training and self-directed learning
  • Follow established engineering processes and work instructions
Must Haves
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Foundational experience in software testing or development
  • Knowledge of Python programming
  • Familiarity with C, C++, Perl, or Python
  • Exposure to test tools or version control systems (e.g., Git) is considered an asset
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Proficient in technical writing and verbal communication
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, SCRUM, DevOps)
  • Proficient with standard office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
