Job summary

The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is seeking an IT Technician to join the Information Technology team in Toronto on a temporary full-time basis. You will troubleshoot and support computer hardware, software, and networks, install and upgrade systems, and assist in deploying new technologies.

The role requires 3+ years of related experience and strong OS/software knowledge. Salary is $31.11–$38.88 per hour with benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with Windows, MacOS, iOS and Android must be essential.
  • Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Exchange preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and strong documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot IT computer systems, hardware, software, email, networking and peripherals.
  • Install, configure and maintain computers, monitors, printers and network infrastructure.
  • Assist in design and deployment of new technologies and projects.
  • Provide secondary technical and user support as required.

IT Technician

Temporary Full-Time

(35 hours per week)

We are currently seeking a IT Technician to join our Information Technology team. Under the direction of the Manager, Information Technology the incumbent will provide technical support services to all Gallery technology users; install, maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment; and provide secondary technical and user support to specialized systems as required.

The rate of pay for this position is $31.11 - $38.88 per hour

What is this position responsible for?
  • Issues: As required, troubleshoot issues with IT computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs, corrections and updates to configurations where required. Works with 3rd party vendors as needed to resolve issues.
  • Hardware: As assigned installs, assembles and configures computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware; mobile devices; installs drop cables and rewires or directs the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfiguration.
  • Software: As assigned, installs, configures and upgrades operating systems and software, using standard business and administrative packages; as directed, may modify specific applications for use in operational departments. Maintains up-to-date documentation of system configurations.
  • Projects: As assigned, assists in the design and deployment of new technologies (upgrades, implementations, enhancements)1
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
What are we looking for?
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise with Windows, MacOS, iOS and Android is essential.
  • MCP or MCSE Certifications are highly desirable.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related and progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Directly related high-level knowledge and experience of support and administration on the following: Microsoft Windows Server (2016 and above), Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Exchange (2016 and above).
  • Proven experience with the Microsoft Office suite (2013, 2016, Office for Mac).
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking.
  • Strong documentation and discovery skills.
  • Well-developed verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly, and in a calm manner.
